With “Sleuth Your Story” I’ll help you follow clues and gain insights to solve the mysteries of your yet-to-be-written book and be ready to begin (or continue) writing with purpose.
The Sleuth Your Story service is offered in three parts. Clients may opt to purchase any one or more of the three offerings.
Part 1 – Story Fundamentals
The Story Fundamentals (Part 1) of the Blueprint for a Book system helps you to define elements that form the foundation for your book, such as Genre, your Ideal Reader, your Point.
You’ll get:
- Questions from the Blueprint for a Book system about your story’s fundamentals to answer and submit for feedback
- Accompanying material designed to help clarify and explain the purpose of the story fundamental questions, and their importance in story development.
- Written feedback on your submission
- A 45-minute follow-up call to discuss the feedback

Part 2 – Design a Structure
Part 2 (Design a Structure) builds on the foundation of your story fundamentals and helps you begin to make choices about not only what happens in your story, but also the motivations, desires, and decisions of your characters. Having a firm grasp of these elements from the start will help your story hold up as the writing moves forward. Some areas that are addressed in Part 2 are Point of View, questions about time, and where the story will start and end.
You’ll get:
- Questions and exercises from the Blueprint for a Book system about your story’s fundamentals for you to answer and submit for feedback
- Accompanying material designed to help clarify and explain the purpose of the story fundamental questions and their importance in story development.
- Written feedback on your submission
- A 45-minute follow-up call to discuss the feedback

Part 3 – The Inside Outline
Creating an Inside Outline (Part 3 of the Blueprint for a Book system) gives you a solid story framework from which to draft your book. It’s a powerful, flexible, and dynamic tool that highlights the purpose and meaning of key scenes, resulting in a cohesive work with clear narrative trajectory, propelling the story forward to its conclusion.
You’ll get:
- Written instruction and explanation on how to complete your book’s Inside Outline for submission and feedback
- Written feedback on your Inside Outline
- A 45-minute follow-up call to discuss the feedback
Cost – $150.00
Discover Your Draft
Receive feedback on up to 30 pages of your narrative. Submitting and receiving feedback on 30 pages represents one “round” of this service. Clients can purchase a single round, or multiple rounds.
You’ll get, for each “round”:
- Written inline feedback on the submission
- A 30-minute follow-up call to discuss the feedback
Cost (per round) – $225.00
Measure Your Manuscript
With “Measure Your Manuscript” I’ll evaluate your full manuscript, up to 95,000 words, analyzing the work from its overall developmental perspective.
This service is for you if:
- you want to know what is working in your story and what isn’t working
- you want to know if your manuscript measures up to the best work you can currently do.
- you want help with knowing what to do to get your manuscript to your “best work” status.
- you know your manuscript needs revising, but revising feels overwhelming and you don’t know where to start or how to tackle the revision tasks.
You’ll get:
- inline comments throughout
- an editorial letter with specific comments and examples from the manuscript of where your story is working and where it isn’t, as well as next step recommendations.
- a 60-minute follow-up call for asking questions, discussing the feedback, and creating a strategy for moving ahead.
Cost – $1,250.00 (Manuscripts with word counts exceeding 95,000 words may incur an additional fee)
